Event Director David Sheerin Reflects on Last Year’s Event

David Sheerin FBHS, Event Director, reflected on the success of the 2025 event:
“I’m so proud of what the team achieved this year at Wellington International Horse Trials, with 956 competitors competing across nine courses. The ground held up incredibly well in the heat, and it was wonderful to receive such positive feedback from riders”.

Hosting the Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse qualifier marks an exciting chapter in our commitment to supporting the future of British Eventing; something I’m truly passionate about.
I’m immensely grateful to our volunteers, officials, and of course, His Grace, The Duke of Wellington, whose ongoing support makes this event possible.”

The Perfect Way To Spend Your August Bank Holiday weekend.

We’re delighted to welcome back some of our crowd-favourite arena attractions, including the high-energy BMX display team, the much-loved Shetland Pony display, and hound parade and much more.

Last year, we introduced 30-minute float fishing taster sessions, which proved a great success and were extremely popular so we have decided that we will be opening up more slots so that you never have to miss out.

For 2026, we’re excited to introduce Clydesdale carriage rides, followed by a chance to meet the horses, this will be need to be booked in advance, so keep an eye out on our website.

A Look Back To Some Of Our Competitors

Last year bought an incredible line up of top eventing talent to Wellington International Horse Trials. Among them was Harry Meade, ranked World No. 1, who joined us on the Fan Zone stage to share insights into how his career began and what he loves most about the sport.

Mary King returned to 3* level with her homebred King’s Belief for the first time in six years, while Laura Collett claimed victory in the Open Intermediate Section W on Balancero, following her success at Scone Palace with London 52 just two days before.

We cannot welcome even more talent to this year’s event and we wish every competitor the best of luck.
